However, booking a hair appointment in Japan can sometimes feel like solving a puzzle—especially when it comes to timing. To help you plan your day, we’ve put together this “cheat sheet” on the services offered to answer your FAQs and approximately how long you should expect to be in the chair.
⚠️ Important Disclaimers
Before we dive into our menu, there are two important things to keep in mind to ensure Assort Tokyo is the right fit for your needs:
♦ Not a Barber Shop: Assort Tokyo is a hair salon, not a traditional barber shop. We do not offer facial hair services, such as beard trimming, mustache shaping, or straight-razor face shaves.
♦ No “Secret Menu” Treatments: To maintain our commitment on specific hair health and styling techniques, Assort Tokyo does not offer hair extensions, Keratin treatments, or “Gloss/Brazilian” blowouts. If you see it mentioned elsewhere but not on our official menu, unfortunately we do not offer it!

Treatment Guide
♦ Quick vs. Full: The “Quick” treatment is a streamlined version designed for maintenance, while the “Full” treatment involves a multi-step deep-layer repair process (such as the Aujua 5-step or Tokio Inkarami Premium).
♦ Total Time Breakdown: While the massage or treatment application itself may take 30–60 minutes, the total appointment time accounts for the initial consultation, deep cleansing, the treatment/spa process, and the final professional blow-dry and style.
5. Specialty Services (Tokyo Only)
♦ Braids & Cornrows: These are time-intensive and vary wildly. You must DM our braids specialist Mina’s Instagram account (@assort_braids) to get a time and price quote.
Quick Planning Tips
♦ The “Long & Thick” Factor: If you have hair past your armpits or very high density, expect to add an extra 30 minutes to any chemical service (color/perm) as application and drying take longer.
♦ Consultation: Every appointment begins with a thorough consultation. If you have a complex hair history (box dye, previous bleach), your stylist may need extra time to test your hair’s strength.
♦ Still not sure what to book for?: If you are not sure which is the correct service for your hair goals, we highly suggest sending a DM on Instagram with a photo of your current hair and hair inspiration to a stylist of your choice to get quick feedback and guidance on which service you should book. ♦ Be mindful of last minute requests: Please be aware that in depth consultation is only available in-person on the day of your appointment. Generally, it is better if you book a longer service in advance and after consulation on the day if your services are reduced, that is not a problem. However, it is usually impossible to extend appointment times on the day as we are usually fully booked in advance and you may need to rebook another day for additional services.
