Rocking the Rainbow: A Spotlight on Our Custom Tokyo Pride Mullet

Recently, Tokyo held its spectacular Pride Parade, and one of our favorite clients came to us with a clear mission: he wanted a head-turning, show-stopping look to rock at the festival.
Instead of a standard rainbow blend, we collaborated on a high-fashion, structural design that completely stole the show. Here is an inside look at how we brought his stunning Rainbow Mullet to life.
The Vision: The Modern Rainbow Mullet
The goal was to create something that combined edgy punk-rock structure with a clean, explosive spectrum of color.
Our client already rocked an incredible mullet haircut, which gave us the perfect canvas. The game plan was high-contrast and graphic: a vivid, solid hot pink on the top and shorter front sections, transitioning into a full spectrum of rainbow colors wrapped around the long back section in precise vertical stripes.
Behind the Scenes: The Process
Achieving a highly detailed, multi-colored vivid design takes immense precision and technical skill. Here is how our team made the magic happen:

1. Prepping the Canvas (The Double Process): Even though our client came in with a blonde base, vivid fashion shades require an exceptionally clean, platinum palette to show up true-to-tone. We started with a gentle, targeted lift to create a completely even canvas from root to tip.

2. Incorporating Bond Protection: To ensure his hair stayed incredibly healthy, shiny, and strong throughout the process, we mixed premium bond-building treatments directly into our formulas to eliminate post-bleach stiffness.

3. Sectioning & Painting the Spectrum: This was the most meticulous part of the day. Our stylist carefully isolated the top section to apply the signature hot pink canvas. Then, using precise geometric sectioning, they painted the remaining colors of the rainbow in crisp, vertical bands around the long back section. This ensures every color stands out distinctly with movement, without bleeding into the next.
The Result: Festival-Ready Pride Perfection
The finished look was nothing short of a masterpiece. The brilliant pink top beautifully framed his face, while the vertical rainbow stripes cascading down the back gave the haircut incredible depth and movement. It was bold, unapologetic, and the ultimate way to march through the streets of Tokyo with Pride.
